Former Sponsors

Ernst & Young: Partner 2005 - 2007

Ernst & Young Australia is proud to have been associated with Women on Boards since 2005, hosting networking events in Australian capital cities. Ernst & Young is strongly committed to supporting women in all their professional endeavours, and supports endeavours both internally and externally that address matters of gender imbalance.

In 2006 Ernst & Young Australia was again named an Employer of Choice for Women by the Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWA). The prestigious citation recognises Ernst & Young's leading people policies and practices, setting us apart in a competitive employment market and helping us to attract and retain the best possible talent.

EYA has been honoured with this award in 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004/2005.

Professionally, Ernst & Young Australia offers a broad array of services to help businesses capitalise on opportunities for growth, improve financial performance and manage risk. Organisations old and new, large and small, can benefit from the insights and solutions we provide. Our core service lines are Assurance and Advisory Business Services, Finance and Performance Management, Tax and Law and Transaction Advisory Services. Each has many specialty areas working separately and together to help clients improve their operating effectiveness and achieve their business objectives.

Blake Dawson Waldron: Major sponsor 2003 - 2004

Blake Dawson Waldron (BDW) was the major national sponsor of Women on Boards in 2004. BDW is one of Australia's leading international law firms and one of the largest and most dynamic firms in the region. It has more than 190 partners and 1400 staff, with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Perth, London, Shanghai and Port Moresby. The firm has operated as a fully integrated national partnership since 1988.

Office for Women

A $50,000 grant from the Commonwealth Office for Women gave the Women on Boards program the impetus to increase its corporate profile and expand beyond NSW in 2004. It assisted WoB to host highly successful networking events in Canberra (2003), Brisbane, Tamworth and Melbourne (2004) and Perth and Sydney (2005). Rural women were bought into the program for the first time and a website developed. A follow-up grant of $20,000 was used to upgrade the functionality of the website, develop relationships with boards and their directors and to promote the program and a further $15,000 was granted to compile a list of boards and conduct national seminars.

The Australian Government Office for Women (OFW) is a policy advisory unit and a division of the Department of Family and Community Services in Australia. All of its work is founded on the goal of mainstreaming women's issues. This means working to ensure that a focus on women's experiences, issues or perspectives becomes everyone's business.
