Register a Board Position

Click here for the online form

Women on Boards welcomes postings for board positions from all organisations. Simply complete the online form and click submit. You can choose to make the position public, in which case it will be made available by email to the WOB network, or request a private search. Fees are charged for private searches - click here for more details.

As a matter of policy WOB encourages public advertising of board positions as this:

  •  Provides a transparent process to the benefit of all parties
  •  Makes the vacancy accessible to a wider range of applicants
  •  Assists organisations with limited funds, particularly not for profits and startups
  •  Increases the number and quality of applicants from which to chose

All positions are verified before being posted to the WOB network. A weekly email is sent about the positions posted in current and prior weeks. This is usually sufficient to get a good field of applicants. Click here for feedback from previous posters.

WOB has a membership of 8,000 plus well qualified women located across Australia and overseas. To view some of the WOB subscriber profiles go to: http://www.womenonboards.org.au/subscribe/profiles/index.htm

Protocol for Organisations

Once an organisation has posted a position then both the organisation and the applicant need to follow some simple rules in order to make the experience satisfying for both.

  • Before posting a position we encourage you to register with the website, which is free.
  • Posting a position is a guided process. The pro forma requires summary information, contact details and links to a website with information such as the selection criteria, profiles of current board members and financial statements.
  • Organisations should regularly communicate the progress of received applications. This can take some time so think about how this will occur. Steps are acknowledgement of application and regular updates on progress. It is important to offer feedback to unsuccessful applicants.
  • Organisations are requested to provide feedback to WOB about the appointment of WOB applicants, a general comment on the quality of the field and any problems encountered.

Protocol for Applicants

Before applying applicants should access their suitability and availability for the position. Some basic questions to ask yourself are:

  • Do you have the time
  • Do you need your employers OK
  • Do you have any obvious conflicts
  • What do you have to offer the board

Board recruitment often takes time. Bear this in mind when you communicate with the contact person about progress. Advise WOB when you are successful and if you encounter problems with the process.
